Founded by Jason Purcell and Matthew Stepanic, Glass Bookshop is a new space in Edmonton, Alberta, that focuses on Canadian writing with special attention paid to LGBTQ2SIA and IBPOC writers, as well as the independent publishers who help to produce their work.

In order to protect the health and well-being of our community, we have closed the doors to our pop-up space until it’s safe to gather again. It’s important that we think and act collectively now; stay home as much as you can, limit contact, and take good care of yourself and others.

We are offering FREE delivery to homes in Edmonton, Sherwood Park & St. Albert on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Or you can choose to schedule a time to pick up your order at our Mercer Market location on Mondays through Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm.

Browse the lists below to discover some of our favourite and popular titles, use the search bar above to find a specific title, or shop by category on this page.

STARFest 2020 (October 6 - 28)See more

STARFest is the St. Albert Readers' Festival, and it's all about bringing readers and authors together – supporting diverse and exciting writing voices, and the booksellers and publishers who bring their work to you, the readers. All STARFest authors will present online this year, though they will continue to investigate the possibility of incorporating in-library experiences, depending on the situation in the coming months. View the full list of authors and events on their website here.

LitFest 2020 (October 15-25)See more
LitFest is Canada’s first and only nonfiction festival, taking place in Edmonton every October. LitFest invites authors to tell true stories about what they know and challenge us with their ideas through immersive readings, panels, materclasses, and memoir hours. Originally organized as a book fair by the Alberta Book Fair Society, LitFest has grown to an 11-day festival, with the addition of a 3-day podcast festival from October 1-3. Learn more about virtual events at litfestalberta.org and yegpodfest.ca
Pandemic University School of Writing AuthorsSee more
Glass Bookshop is the exclusive store for books by the faculty of Pandemic University 'Pop-up' School of Writing. Whether that’s a nonfiction book proposal, TV comedy pilot, or a collection of disaster poetry documenting life in quarantine, PanU's series of online webinars are a great place to learn your craft. And you’ll be helping financially support writers who’ve lost work due to COVID-19. To get us through the COVID-19 pandemic safely, we encourage you to stay home, write a lot, and read more.
